Winter Causes Tens of Millions Pounds Loss for Shop Owners

Shop owners in the United Kingdom suffered a loss of tens of millions pounds after heavy snow that fell in this weekend messing shopping season ahead of Christmas celebrations.

As reported by the Telegraph, Saturday (18/12), bad conditions with snow and ice storms make consumers prefer to warm themselves at home and are reluctant to shop, so that eventually forced some owners to close their stores.

Shopping centers in Brent Cross, North London, one of the largest in England, was forced to close on Saturday (18/12) afternoon, and expected to experience a loss of 5 million pounds.

In some supermarkets, there are long lines and make the shelves empty because of the panic buyers amid fears of food supplies are not available anymore at Christmas. Saturday should have predicted the busiest day with buyers who are shopping for food and Christmas gifts.
