 What Happened?

"...though this country is now pleased with a Washington, Franklin, Hancock and Adams, yet posterity may have reason to rue the day when their political welfare depends on the decision of men who may fill the places of these worthies."
--Benjamin Austin, Dec. 20, 1787

"It must never be forgotten...that the liberties of the people are not so safe under the gracious manner of government as by the limitation of power."
--Richard Henry Lee

What Happened to the Land of the Free?
A Timely Classic by Harry Browne

America is no longer the land of the free. And if we don't soon restore individual liberty in America, we may no longer have the chance. The larger government gets, the more power it has to forbid any change in the system - and the more its waste of our resources reduces the chance of getting out of this without national bankruptcy.

Only when we undo the changes made in the four eras of rapid government growth I've described will America once again be the "land of the free."

Pundits like to say we can't go back - that we must live in the present. But the question isn't whether we will live in the present or the past; it is whether we will live free or as wards of the state.

None Dare Call is Treason
by Robert W. Barker

Time has a way of fetching the truth from under the cover of darkness, realization is manifest in awareness of the facts and the reality exposed emerges into the light of day. A dark shadow government has the genuine control.  We are left outside looking in as our wealth and blood spew onto the desert sands and our values compromised for the gain of a few. Evidence of corruption and sedition abound in this current administration, yet none dare call it treason.

Torture advocated, secret armies and prisons encouraged, ignoring habeas corpus for anyone pointed to and called "enemy combatant."   The list goes on and on.

Telecom Immunity: Barebones Congressional Felony
by Stephen Neitzke

The Constitution does not say, "We don't like ex post facto law, but Congress can go ahead and pass it, and then let the courts sort things out." The Constitution says, "No ex post facto law ... shall be passed".

Any and all retroactive immunity for crimes already committed would require ex post facto law. And ex post facto law is unconstitutional, anti-Constitutional, and blatantly illegal. No ifs, ands, or buts. Got it? No politics tap-dancing around the good ol' boys. Got it? Purely anti-Constitutional and illegal. Got it?

So much for telecom immunity.

Living in Fear of Our Government
by Cliff Carson

"The Constitution and the People rule America through the Congress"; that's the way it was meant to be; but Congress has abandoned our Constitution, and abandoned the People it was created to serve!

Is Congress is the problem?  Congress has abandoned the "checks and balances" written in the Constitution that are supposed to control a runaway Executive or Judiciary - or, for that matter, any other elected or appointed leader or Governing entity that could usurp our Constitutional rights.

A Century of War
by Stephen Lendman

William F. Engdahl calls his book "no ordinary history of oil" because what he recounts is suppressed in the mainstream and what passes for education in America. It settles for mediocrity, ignorance, and a barely literate public by design. As a result, people don't know that US manipulators arranged "the greatest confidence game the world had ever seen" - a "special hegemony" to:

-- print limitless dollar paper certificates to buy every imaginable product;

-- accumulate endless trade deficits;

-- "inflate (the) currency beyond imagination;"

-- have the government pay interest on its own money; and

-- create an unprecedented public and private debt to enrich an elite few at the expense of the greater good.
