Friday, March 20th, 2009, marked the end of the 6th year of the endless war. And the following day begain the 7th year of that immoral, useless war. Over a million have died so far. Most of those deaths were Iraqi civilians who had no quarrel with America. And over 4100 of those deaths were American soldiers who had no quarrel with the Iraqi people.
Over four million Iraqis have been displaced and the country is destroyed. Areas of Depleted Uranium are scattered, unmarked in most cases, across Iraq to infect the local population for the next 500 million years. Already the incident of radiation-caused sickness has skyrocketed. The population has been plunged into a civil war. The infrastructure of Iraq is almost non-existent, and as far as one can see into the future there is no hope for the young of Iraq. Sadly, there was no valid reason for this war and yet it continues with no end in sight.
The cost of the war to America has been staggering as well. There has been no destruction of America caused by anything that Iraq has done. This destruction of our country was self-imposed by a group of madmen, leading this once great Nation down a pathway of Empire Building; a road of no return. We are headed for ruin unless we change. No country in history has survived its plunge into Empire. The reason is always simple - the world or a superior opponent finally decides to put an end to the head of that Empire. America cannot ever again capture the respect that the world once had for its principles, because those principles have been discarded.
We have accepted the practice of torture, the use of mercenary Corporate soldiers, renditions, secret prisons, denial of trials, but worst of all, our leadership has lied to its people. We have given up to a despotic Government many of our own guaranteed Constitutional rights and we have allowed our Government to become a parasite sucking the moral and financial blood of the common people; those citizens who believed in the good of our Government and the rule of law.
The former Commander-In-Chief of our Military, the once President of our Nation, described that rule of law, the Constitution, as "nothing but a God Damned piece of paper" and he gave himself the power to decide which laws that he would obey. This despot, a Julius Caesar wannabe, was kept in power by his Political Party and its political machine. The Republican Party Propaganda Machine provided cover for his war crimes and his criminal acts. Our national mainstream media looked the other way, knowingly providing spin and cover for the power grab of the War Industry of Corporate America.
As America enters the seventh year of this war with no end, we are now bankrupt, both financially and morally, and we are possibly the most hated nation on earth.
But it didn't have to be this way.
There were several avenues open to head off this conflict. But some madmen wanted the war. They had visions of profits and power that would be theirs for the taking and they sold the Nation that there wasn't time to prove their statements about Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Nuclear threat of Saddam. And as the madmen continued to chant, "it would be so easy", they said, "because the Iraqi people would greet our Army in the Streets of Baghdad with flowers, as the liberators of Saddam Hussein". Donald Rumsfeld even claimed that Iraqi Oil would pay for the war. And when some of our leading Military Generals claimed it would require many more troops and cost much more than the $50 to $80 Billion that had been proclaimed by the White House - they were promptly fired and replaced with a cadre of "yes" men.
Remember how we denigrated the French for opposing the war; calling them cowards when they claimed it was unjust? We said that if it hadn't been for the United States defeating Germany, the French people would all speak German now, so they owed us. However, although several other countries gave lip service, only two major Countries actually sided significantly with America - Britain and Israel, both of whom had agendas for the Middle East. Those Countries giving lip service didn't join on for moral reasons; instead they did it for favors, in the form of Aid, loans, and other valuable gratuities. In other words their participation was bought.
From the get-go this war has been about providing business opportunities for the International Financial Consortium. This monster needs to be fed, and it needs to be fed regularly. It is the octopus whose tentacles cover the world. It affects you personally.
It is reaping a harvest of trillions from the world as we speak. Just think, the American taxpayer is bailing out the richest and most powerful 3% of the world. And it is sold to us as a fear that if we don't bail them out, we will suffer tragically. You think that the world's top 3% will suffer whatever we do or don't do? War is a lucrative business for these people.
The Iraqi war was brought against an innocent people who had nothing to do with 9/11, the war was unnecessary to effect regime change, it was ginned up by lies of those who sought a war to open a new profit line, and it is just one of the seven wars that was planned in the early ninety's, to aid the American Neo-Con vision of Empire in the Middle East.
(Article Continues Below)
The people of Iraq were innocent of any involvement with 9/11, Saddam Hussein had offered to go into exile before the invasion to avoid the war, there was no Weapons of Mass Destruction and the War Industry knew it, Retired General Wesley Clark mentioned on C-Span last year that in 1992 he had a conversation with Pentagon Generals who apprised him of a plan to bring war against seven Middle Eastern Countries, and the Project for a New American Century drew up plans in 1994 to invade Iraq and subjugate the Middle East and in 1994 they discussed how to divide up the Iraqi Oil.
This never ending war has been going on for some time and the war on Terror is just a tool to fool the people in accepting a need to defend themselves from those "others" hence the mantra "Fight them over there instead of over here". Ironically, the hot spots are ginned up by the ones who will profit from "fixing" the problems that they themselves created. That a million died and untold millions suffered is of no consequence to the Corporate War Industry. They made their projected profits so its now on to the next manufactured "war". Iran looks like a good candidate as that next "hot spot war". Hasn't the rhetoric been going on for some time now to prepare the people who will be called on to fight this oncoming manufactured war?
As I write this, I am listening to Washington Journal and their guest Neil Gardiner a British citizen of the Heritage Foundation. Please recall that the Heritage Foundation is a Conservative "Think Tank" and we should think Right Wing Republican War Industry supporter. Neil is a Margaret Thatcher Center For Freedom director at the Heritage Foundation and is a very virulent proponent of bringing war to Iran.
Further, recall that in 1953 the CIA aided the British Petroleum Industry in overthrowing the Government of Iran to retake the Iranian Oil fields. Iran had rebelled against the British and expelled the British Oil companies who had seized the Iranian Oil in the late 1940's. The United States installed the Shah of Iran as their puppet dictator. His brutality to the Iranian people made the other United States puppet in the Middle East, a dictator of Iraq named Saddam Hussein, himself quite brutal, almost Angelic when compared to the Shah. It is in this backdrop that Neil and the Heritage foundation is cast concerning this morning's appearance on C-Span.
Today this Neil Gardiner was complaining of the brutality of the Iranian dictator, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Now those were his words. As a PhD of History and a Director in the Heritage Foundation he knows that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is not the dictator of Iran. In fact Ahmadinejad is not the most powerful politician in the Iranian Government and really has no power as a decision maker for Iran. And since Gardiner knows this and chooses to emit a blatant lie to the American public, we should take the rest of his rhetoric as just mere "spin".
Neil was working hard to gin up war propaganda against Iran. His spin was eerily similar to the spin leading up to the invasion of Iraq - Iran is wanting to take over the world, we don't have time to be diplomatic because of their Nuclear threat to Israel and the United States and their neighbors, they are oppressors of their own people, they brutally invaded Iraq, they are killing American soldiers in Iraq, and on and on. He failed to mention that the United States has killed a million Iraqis over the past six years and etc, plus he also failed to mention anything about the history of why the Iranians don't trust America, only that Iran is untrustworthy. And he failed to mention that Iran sits atop the fourth largest oil reserves in the world. Finally he also failed to mention that the United States now controls the Iraqi Oil, 3rd largest in the world, and has their puppet King Abdullah of Arabia, the largest Oil reserve in the World, now if we could just get the 4th largest..
It is not fair to blame the United States for the greed of the International Financial Consortium because we are just one of the countries under those tentacles. But our Government is currently a willing participant in that IFC and has abdicated its charge to protect the American people.
I believe in a strong America. But I don't believe in wars for profit or Empire building.
I believe in an America that is moral and ethical, a country that is that shining beacon of hope high on the hill giving guiding light to the world. I do not believe in imposing our will on any country except in defense against invasion. And I do not believe in pre-emptive warfare although I do believe in pre-emptive diplomacy. If we claim to be a better people, then we should act like a better people.
It is time to put a stop to this grotesque parade of corruption we find permeating our Government. The people of America need to wake up and recognize the pathway that we are being drawn down. We need to retake our own country and expel the New World Order, those Internationalist, who lust to steal our strength. They have become a Shadow Government, setting policy, and directing Foreign Policy to manipulate our elected leaders and are pressing for those merchants of war to bring us into economic slavery, with themselves as the masters, keeping us distracted from the real dangers of financial entrapment, by conducting endless war.
