Freedom from the Income Tax

Someday, I hope, April 15th will no longer be Tax Day but instead will be known as Freedom Day - a day to remember the huge, expensive, intrusive, and meddling government that once was and that we should be on guard against forever.

That can come only after we repeal the income tax and reduce the federal government to a size that can subsist on just the tariffs and excise taxes already being collected. No flat tax, no "fair" tax, no replacement tax of any kind - because government has been made so small an income tax is no longer needed to finance it.

Impossible?

Not at all.

The Darker Legacy of Iraq

Psst, America did you forget about Iraq?

We hate to interrupt this Hillary-Obama-McCain fixation, your focus on an economic down turn, high health care costs, exorbitant gas prices, death of the dollar or your latest dance team...or worse yet...American Idol, but put down the beer and chips or Ice cream and tune in. We are being driven to ruin daily by a war that is virtually ignored.

Measuring the damage suffered as a nation in this dark Iraqi conflict is a vast undertaking of numerous variables that all speak of failure and future cost. We are aware of the over four thousand American servicemen deaths, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, millions displaced and refuges created in surrounding countries. Weapons lost or stolen, billions literally misplaced, strategies failed, torture allowed and mercenaries encouraged.

Real Questions for Petraeus

Why should the American people continue to support a war that was justified by false information, since Saddam Hussein never aggressed against the United States, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction?

It is said that we must continue the war because we have already sacrificed so much. But what is moral about demanding even more needless sacrifice of human lives merely to save face for the mistakes of invading and occupying Iraq?

Time to Show Some Guts: No War with Iran!

Lock and load "Do as we tell you or die," is not diplomacy or negotiation. It is the sort of thing that Hitler got away with until Poland, when the rest of the world finally got tired of what Hitler was doing and decided to fight back.

Iran may well be Bush's Poland. Much of the world has good relations with Iran, along with mutual defense and trading treaties. The whole world may be afraid of the current insanity in the White House, but they may not take it forever.
