The Populist Party welcomes submissions from accomplished authors as well as new voices. We are less concerned with who is making statements, than what the statements are. In keeping with our principles, we accept article submissions from anyone who can add desirable content to our website.
If your work is published, it will be licensed under a Creative Commons license, and you will be free to use your work for purposes of publicizing it in different venues.
Although you, the author, retain final ownership over your work, by submitting it to us you are authorizing us to publish it and make editorial adjustments, including title, formatting, and the like - without altering the meaning and intent of the writing. Please be aware that in order to operate the website or redistribute materials you submit to us, we require certain rights in those materials. So, by submitting or otherwise transmitting comments, pieces, ideas or other information in any form including visual or audio data (collectively, "Submissions") to us, you grant to us and our designees a worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicenseable, assignable, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right (including any moral rights) and license to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works based on, perform and display such Submissions (in whole or in part) in any media now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose whatsoever, without compensation to you or any other provider of the Submissions. You also permit any person to access, display, view, store and reproduce such Submissions for personal use.
Before sending your article, please consider the following common-sense rules for essay-submission:
Formatting:

Please use only the default font on your computer - no fancy formatting or fonts.

Do not use bullets on your lists

Do not include any images with your work.

Do not use any HTML tags in your text, except for embedded links.

If you'd like to send your essay already formatted in HTML, send us an HTML document as an attachment along with your unformatted essay.

Title your subject line "submission for publication"

Be sure to include a title to your work. Although we may decide to change it at publication, we'll have something to work with.

Please send us final drafts of your work only.

Please include a short (one sentence to one small paragraph) bio with your piece, and include an email address we can publish, to which you would like to have correspondence sent. If you have a website, please include that as well.

Please allow up to 5 business days to respond to your submission.

We like new ideas and investigations. Tell us a story we haven't heard from the mainstream press.

If your submission is rejected, please don't stop sending. Acceptance depends on a variety of factors, including timeliness, style, and any number of editorial requirements of the moment that may not necessarily reflect on your writing ability.
By submitting your article for publication on http://www.populistamerica.com/ you are also authorizing us to post your work as a Populist Party publication in other Populist Party outlets, including, but not limited to: Populist Party Diaries and Blogs on Newsvine, DailyKos, MyDD, EpluribusMedia, RedState, MySpace, and Indymedia.org. This is done to increase readership of both your essay and the PopulistAmerica.com website, which is, our mutual goal. We do honor requests to limit publication to the Populist Party website alone, but this must be specifically noted at the time of submission.
Due to the large volume of submissions we receive, we are only able to respond to those that are of interest to us. We do not publish cartoons, or fiction pieces. We will consider short poetry pieces on the Blog. If you've submitted something to us and haven't heard back, please don't hesitate to drop us a line to check in. Sometimes good work can get lost in the shuffle!
