Stop the PATRIOT Act
On Wednesday, March 1, the Senate voted 95-4 to approve S. 2271, Sununu amendments to the PATRIOT Act reauthorization bill. The House will vote soon.
On Thursday, March 2, the Senate voted 89-10 to permanently reauthorize all but 2 sections of the PATRIOT Act.
The 16 sections of the USA PATRIOT Act that would have expired on 12/31/05 have been reauthorized for another five weeks, until March 10, 2006.
Our work is not done. We now have one more month to demand that Congress let some of the most egregious sections of this unconstitutional law expire.
Rather than fighting to try to change the entire PATRIOT Act, now is the time, and possibly our last opportunity to stop its reauthorization; although it may seem to be an overwhelming task, the effort is neccesary. Our fight to defend our rights must always go on!
We still do have a chance to stop this and preserve our liberty; we are simply demanding that Congress let expire these fifteen sections. If no agreement is reached before the end of 2005, these sections will, for the time being, disappear into history.
In contact with public officials, it has been acknowledged that most politicians track electronic communication in the same way that they do phone calls and letter - the more they receive, the more they start to listen. Please join us in our effort to end some of the most dangerous sections of the PATRIOT Act; which gives the central government the power to violate the rights of Americans!
Join us in this historic fight for our freedom! Please take a few minutes to fill out the petition below, and we'll lobby your Congressional representatives on your behalf.

As you well know, portions of the Patriot Act are about to sunset. Please allow them to do so! Please oppose bringing up a vote on any "deal" or "compromise," please support any filibuster to stop the renewal of the Patriot Act, and if a vote occurs, please cast your vote in opposition to the renewal and expansion of the Patriot Act!
