"Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it."
"They failed and it closed. Now, we are trusting the economy of our country and 850+ Billion Dollars to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze."
. . . An Astute American Observer . . .
"It doesn't work to leap a 20 foot chasm in two 10 foot leaps."
. . . American Proverb . . .
CNN's morning show assures us as a part of its politically directed, unbiased, unbalanced news coverage that "So What?" has become a part of our American lexicon. Its adoption as a phrase is meant to show that the phrase can be used by everyone from the "man on the street" to "Tony Soprano". Its use is meant to show American stoicism in the face of natural catastrophe, political upheavals, the moral degeneration of our society and any other feelings or emotions in between.
As an example. Suppose someone says, "George Bush hasn't enough sense to get water out of a boot nor to dodge a thrown shoe".
The answer: So What? He had enough sense to dodge a tour in Viet Nam and to go AWOL for two years without consequences and finally wind up as President of the United States.
See. No one cares about the answer. There is no investigation for possible criminal charges against our Commander-in-Chief. We put him in the Oval Orifice, give him an army and an unlimited budget with which he kills ONE AND A QUARTER MILLION PEOPLE - MOSTLY CIVILIANS. He kills 4,209 American soldiers, poisons Iraq for 4.5 billion years and in return he gives the American people the makings of the worst DEPRESSION in world history. "So What", you say.
To show the world that the American people hold no grudges against those we have killed, maimed and robbed, we show everyone - including ourselves - that we can see the errors of the ways of our leaders and we want CHANGE. "So What", and ho-hum you say.
We Americans elect as president a Liberal/Socialist/Communist to CHANGE the American world. We are going to have no more Conservatism/Colonialism/Fascism on our "world-watch" - even though our outgoing Vice Dictator-in-Chief says he believes the new, incoming President will find such a "vigorous interpretation of the powers of the Executive being left him to be very handy in his presidency". "So What", you say?
You never know when as President you will need to eavesdrop on American citizen's e-mail, and telephone contacts. You never know when you will need to arrest and hold an American citizen indefinitely without charge, without access to legal counsel, without the benefit of habeas corpus in a hidden floating brig. You never know when the President will need to authorize his underlings to break longstanding international agreements and treaties such as the Geneva Convention.
You never know when you will need to blame an "inside job" on some nebulous terrorist and then send your agents to invade some country, kidnap a likely target and have him "rendered" to a country where he can be imprisoned and tortured indefinitely or until he "confesses" and can be sent to Guantanamo with no chance for a trial or release. You never know when another Dilawar will be discovered running away from a bomb blast in Afghanistan. How could you possibly know that he was just a taxi driver that happened to be in the area unless you handcuffed him, hung over a prison cell door and beat him to death over a period of three days.

"So What", you say.
We hand our newly elected President the keys to the White Whorehouse and tell him to CHANGE things - forgetting that we had not asked him what CHANGE really meant before we elected him, nor had we told him what CHANGES we were expecting.
So, what does our new President have to do?
He has to bring about CHANGE by using the same set of thieves, whores, misfits, and re-treads that have been rattling around Washington for 16 years formulating the catastrophes which are about to be visited upon us, our children and their grandchildren.
But he is a man of the people you say. Yes, that is true according to Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota:
"-Number of States won by: Democrats: 20; Republicans: 30
-Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000; Republicans: 2,427,000
-Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million; Republicans: 143 million
-Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2; Republicans: 2.0.
Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, . . . the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in rented or government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."
So What?
So, Nothing.
Our new President assures us that once he takes The Oath of Office -
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
the question of eligibility for the office should not be raised again.
WHAT? SAY WHAT?
George Bush didn't have to show his Armed Services records. His records were lost in the Pentagon. Being required to prove that I am a natural born citizen is discriminatory and degrading. Besides, I am the first United States President in 16 years not to be a draft dodger. And besides all that, The Supreme Court of the United States has refused TWICE to hear the cases challenging my qualifications to serve as President of the United States.
Furthermore, I am not one to ask questions of former Presidents. I don't think it is any of my business, nor that of anyone else, why the Bush family would want to buy a 100,000 acre "ranch" in Paraguay through which the main drug smuggling routes for South America run. I don't think its anyone's business "why might the president and his family need a ranch in Paraguay protected by a semi-secret U.S. military base manned by American troops who have been exempted from war-crimes prosecution by the Paraguyan government?"
Nor do I think it is anyone's business to ask questions about monies deposited in various "hidden" accounts for George W. Bush. It shouldn't be up to the United States government to track the movement of former presidents' funds using the software PROMIS program. Besides how confusing could it get - trying to keep track of those monies "hidden under each Bush."
