Senator (Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Iran) McCain soars to the lead

I used to think that Election 2008 would get rid of the War crowd in our Government.  After Super Tuesday I realize how wrong I was.  With the suspension of the Romney Campaign, those Republican candidates still in the race (McCain, Huckabee, and Paul, plus Romney is not actually out of it), the nomination of McCain is all but a done deal.

Based on the last Republican Debate where the Moderator and questioners dwelt the overwhelming majority of the time with McCain and Romney, I think it can be established that McCain is gung-ho not only for the Iraq war but he leaves an impression on me that he is signaling that he will continue a policy of new wars of Empire building as long as he is in office.  Huckabee didn't leave that impression but would not condemn the Iraq war.  And McCain has previously publicly stated that he doesn't care if we occupy Iraq for the next 100 years.

And I'm sure most will remember his little tuneful ditty of "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Iran" that he sang on National TV some time ago.  Make no mistake about it, with a President McCain; we would soon be in more wars, a veritable Bush redux.

Sadly, Ron Paul was treated as if he wasn't there at the debate.  The hard thing to understand is that Ron Paul is the most Constitutional candidate still in the running from either party.  But the media has so ignored him that the voters see him as a lost vote.

Romney when asked in an earlier debate, if he would invade a country without the permission of Congress, told the reporters that he would have to "consult his lawyers".  Notice he didn't say he would consult anyone in the Government, what he said was that he would have to consult his personal lawyers.  It would be them, not Congress, who would give the go ahead or not.  To invade a country without Congressional permission would be unconstitutional but he has now told us all that he wouldn't heed the oath that he would take should he elected as President of the United States.

One thing is absolutely for sure.  Romney and McCain certainly have the George Bush smirk down pat.  The expression on their face when either Huckabee or Paul was speaking said volumes to me.  Both are Bush extended.  So if you liked the Bush years you will be right at home with McCain.

Huckabee made a lot of sense in the few things that he got to answer, and I would give him the title of most Presidential of those in the debate.  Huckabee, when asked if Reagan would endorse him for President, gave the best answer.  He said he didn't know whom, or if, Reagan would endorse anybody running including himself, but that he would endorse Reagan.  Paul also made a lot of sense but he got to be heard even less than Huckabee.  In fact, I would have to say that the Media has chosen our finalists for us because we let them do it.  I'm hoping for a good Independent slate but I won't hold my breath because even though there is still time, I'm convinced it won't happen.

On the Democratic side, there is no way I can vote for Hillary, because she is the darling of Big Business.  Pay attention, that endorsement; it says everything you need to know.  She will let Bill in the back door in some capacity and we will all be the losers for it.  I am not sure if the voters still remember that we got NAFTA with Clinton.  That was the pre-cursor of the job loss now ongoing in the United States.  Do the voters still remember the "Cattle Futures" venture of Senator Clinton?  I do!  That is where she turned a $1000 dollar investment into a $100,000 profit in a very short period of time.  The political friends who invested with her "lost" $100,000 in the same deal and the bill they needed signed by Bill Clinton in fact was then signed.  But legally, it wasn't a bribe.   Kind of like what the meaning of "is" is.

I'm not sure about Obama but I may not vote for him either.  Of all those likely electable, he is the best remaining.  My Democrat favorite, Kuchinich, went out long ago, a casualty of being buried under nothingness by the Media.

I had checked Unity08 several months ago but after dealing with them for a while, I began to suspect they were a front organization for Bloomberg.   Late events seem to have borne that suspicion out. Unfortunately the 100+ Independent parties didn't see the need to organization a Coalition, therefore all I expect from Independents is a minimum amount of noise and they won't amount to anything.

However if one of those Independents could get a strong team to present to the voters, and could get the money to really present them to the public,  many disgruntled Democrats and Republicans might join with that Independent group to become a formidable force, but it will have to begin no later than the end of February.  That's not likely to happen, so I'm really pessimistic about Election 2008 now.  Anybody have any suggestions or encouragement?

Otherwise it's beginning to look like more wars, more corruption, more loss of personal freedoms, and a further drift away from the rule of law - The Constitution.  And I guess all we have left to blame is ourselves, the electorate.  We must be worse than the three blind mice to let the media drag us by our noses into this situation.

I believe it was Joseph M. Juran who once stated " The maximum expected result is directly proportional to our minimum expectations".  Therefore I suppose that if we don't expect much we are likely to get less.  Obviously works in Elections.
