Robert W. Barker [send him email] is a writer, professional photographer and travel aficionado from Eureka Ca. His work is carried on many web sites around the globe, a first novel recently copyrighted in the library of Congress, is soon to be published.
Barker's writing skills were first noticed in sixth grade in Xenia Ohio, as a poem he wrote won national attention through National Scholastic Magazine. His vocal and musical talents were featured in many church, school choirs, local rock and jazz bands. Attended Central State University in Wilberforce Ohio, and Antioch Collage in Yellow Springs Ohio, Graduated with a BS in sociology. Attended Wright State University graduate degree program. Hitch hiked to San Francisco in 1968 to attend U. C. Berkeley, left three months later to marry and have kids.
Wrote editorials for the Minority Report, an underground alternative newspaper distributed throughout the Midwest. Became anti war activist from 67 to 73 and organized marches on DC and other places as a protest against the Viet Nam war, and other social issues. In 1971 Robert went on the road with Jesus Christ Superstar and made many appearances in large stadiums across the USA and Europe.
Moved to Los Angeles area in Nov. 72 and began playing with several local rock and soul groups.
Became a Dance Photographer in 1987, studied under NY Dance Photographer Harvey Kushner and opened Dance Image West in the Los Angles- San Francisco areas 1989. This commenced a career taking dance pictures for dance wear catalogs, dance companies, dance schools and individual professional Dance portfolio pictures.
Mr. Barker travels and works all over the globe for research on historical projects, archeology interest and for Photo work.
Traveled the roads of Patmos, Crete, Paris, Rome, London, Athens, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Cairo, Bangkok, Auckland Costa Rica and many other places. A life spent in historical and cultural exploration, Mr. Barker dabbles in Latin and speaks in Spanish and Italian. Moved from LA to Amsterdam in 2001 and stayed in Europe three years writing his first novel, Marcus the Last Living Roman {Not yet Published} and taking photos of historical sites for tourist companies. His latest novel "Adventures of Tiberius the scribe," "featuring the birth of Merlin" is now available on Amazon and at most on line book stores.
Since 2002 Mr. Barker have been writing articles for many web sites and print media around the globe, and spends a lot of time researching the corruption that is never or rarely mentioned on main stream media.
Robert has resided in Eureka Ca. since March 06.
