No one becomes a public servant in order to serve one's country, but to serve oneself. It is pure fantasy to intimate that some people become public servants do so in order to serve us and their country; truth be told, they enter public service to serve themselves. Influence, power, and wealth are commonly the motive, but we cannot rule out as well the fact that an opportunity to live comfortably and be rewarded for idleness is as much a great inducement.
To plead that one is in public service because of his love of fellow man is mere sick hypocrisy and naive cleverness.

The Republic, Slip-Sliding Away

Internally, we have become decisively less democratic. The present administration has a bad habit of questioning the patriotism and loyalty of people who disagree with it. It spies on everybody without any judicial restraint. It has riddled the government with partisans who are incompetent. It is the most secretive administration in American history. It lies like a drunken fisherman. It puts people in jail and holds them incommunicado without charges. It tortures people.
It is contemptuous of the Constitution and especially of the principle of checks and balances.

Of Patriots and Pawns

Boots On The Ground By Dusk is the saga of Mary Tillman's journey to the truth-an account of the glaring inconsistencies presented to the Tillman family about Pat's death in tandem with the endless changing of stories and cover-your-ass behavior exhibited by the Army.
No intelligent human being could blithely accept such discrepancies, and Mary Tillman is nothing if not intelligent. She has refined the process of researching, questioning, fact-checking, and cross-referencing to an art form. She had to-for her own sanity and to honor her two soldier sons. All of the facts are there in her book, as they are in detail in "The Tillman Files."
Mary has come to believe that Pat's death was orchestrated as a public relations strategy to gain support for the Iraq War in 2004 around the time of the Fallujah carnage and as the war was becoming increasingly unpopular in the United States
