President Paul: Can He Really Win?

This is a question asked in an article I recently read.  Written by Ron Holland and published by Dixie Daily News, the author presented several scenarios that he though might result in a Ron Paul Presidency.

I would suggest you read the article to get insight as to why the author thinks this has a chance of happening.  I don't agree that the election of Ron Paul has much of a chance although I do believe he would be by far the best President of anyone running.  I will vote for him if he is the GOP nominee and I will vote for him if he fails to secure the GOP nomination and chooses to run as an Independent.  But again I don't think it is likely we will see him in the White House in 2008 for the following reasons:

Ron Paul is not a member of the GOP Neo-con branch and is thus anathema to the current Republican and Democratic Leadership.   He would absolutely not be another Bush and would work against the war mongering gang that is made up of members of both parties.

In that light he would have a tough road to navigate should he be chosen as the Nominee.  If we have learned anything from his struggle to be heard in the debates, we should have learned that "BIG" money is against him.  That also includes the Mainstream media.

The scenarios mentioned by Holland will not happen.  Already you have seen how far Big Business and our current White House and Congress will go to stave off those "scenarios":  There will not be "A Bush strike against Iran", now that the cheese has  begun to bind, lo and behold, we have discovered Intelligence that Tehran stopped trying to develop a Bomb in 2003.  This invasion wasn't going anywhere with the public, so the great diplomat found a way to cheer up America - "We don't have to go to war, they're not going to develop a bomb, proof that our diplomatic efforts have borne fruit".

What a crock.

Didn't use the 2003 Intelligence while drumming for war against Iran until the cause seemed lost.  This is indicative of what we now have as leaders.  Check off that scenario, at least until after the election.

A collapse of Pakistan ain't going to happen.  It would be too much of a diversion of the great "good" brought to us by our thing in Washington.  Might even get the public to looking Independent.  Neither party is going to stand for that.  Yeah, they need to put off the invasion of Pakistan until after November 2008.  Ever wonder why the Democratic Majority in Congress hasn't brought an end to the Iraqi war?

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Turkish invasion.  Turkey has too much invested in our Neo-Con Government.  They know that if they remain patient, sooner or later, their oil starved country will get to share the spoils of a Mid Eastern Conflagration with their friends who "really" run United States Foreign Policy.

Folks, its not you, me, or any other of the electorate.  Those who really govern the United States seldom run for office, they have other influences.  Therefore patience and successful surges will keep Ron Paul out of the limelight.  Ron  won't get any help here.

How about the Federal Reserve and the Dollar collapse scenario?  Well, if I remember correctly, Paul is all for getting rid of the Federal Reserve.  Now these people control the U S economy-and they're not elected.  Think they could make corrections and loans and other dealings to prop up the economy until after Paul is dismissed?  There is no way they are going to let the dollar collapse and get that hostile opponent in the White House.  Won't happen.

Yesterday I went to Google and started to try and find the pre 1929 depression economy as opposed to our current day   economy.  If this doesn't grab your attention, nothing will.  All this was brought on by those who occupy our elective offices; they will work mightily to keep Ron Paul out.  They will succeed in keeping him out of the GOP nomination, but if enough Independents would unite behind Paul, then he would have a chance and that would be good for our country.

Unfortunately, to date, I have not seen any cohesive effort to build that coalition of Independents.  Mr. Holland, you hold out hope for us, for Ron Paul, and others like you and me, but I'm sad to have to inform you that without that coalition I mentioned, Ron Paul is destined to become a side story of election history.

Unless you heed the quote Mr. Holland led off his article with:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
- Mohandas Gandhi

Would that this would come true for our country - and Ron Paul.
