"A man is no less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years."
--Lysander Spooner

Something new: In this edition of the Populist Party newsletter, we're highlighting articles solely from authors who we've just recently started publishing.  These new authors (and others not listed here) add valuable perspectives to our already solid core of contributors, and it's our hope that we'll see more work from them in the near future.  If you'd like to write for PopulistAmerica.com, click here.

We hope that you'll take a few moments to write one or more of them to give them some feedback and words of encouragement.  Find email addresses, when available, at the bottom of each article.

Bigger Than Any of Us
by Mickey Z

Let's face it: Things sucked under George W. Bush. Things will suck under Barack Obama. Things have sucked under every president. Nothing will change until we change our minds. We can't be as indifferent as those before us. They didn't think enough about future generations so now we have to work twice as hard. It sucks, I know, but this not an issue of fairness. It's about survival.

Some things in life are bigger than any of us. The anti-slavery movement recognized this. Today, the entire planet is enslaved...to profit-seeking corporations and the corrupt politicians they own (yes, including the Pope of Hope). Are this generation's abolitionists ready to step up and create change? Not ask for change, create change.

Why not embrace your outrage and frustration and let it challenge you, inspire you, and motivate you? Instead of channeling your ambitions toward climbing a mountain, running a marathon, or striving to make your first million before you're 30, what greater goal could any of us ever aim for than to leave the planet much better off than how we found it?

You have nothing to lose but your chains.

A Dream of the Past
by Kat Kanning

The United States of today in no way respects the rights of people - free speech has been replaced by "free speech zones", freedom from outrageous searches have been replaced by TSA lines and no-knock warrants. Rights to a speedy trial are laughed at by officials at Guantanamo Bay, where torturing prisoners is endorsed by the President himself.

Limits on taxation have been replaced by a system that takes nigh upon 50% of all we earn. The government fetters laid down by the Constitution have largely been cut, leaving government free to trample the people.

End the Fed!
by Jake Towne

END THE FED! protests will take place at all FED branches and offices in 39 US cities on Saturday.

For any who are unaware, although the Federal Reserve was created by Congress and President Wilson via the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, the Federal Reserve's use of paper currencies unbacked by gold and silver is unconstitutional...

Mock the Vote!
by David Heleniak

Wise up, America. There's nothing special about 50% plus one. Truth and justice cannot be determined by a show of hands. We are not the government. Voting is not a sacrament. And as it stands today, when we're only given a choice between two Establishment-approved candidates, voting is a joke.

Voltaire, the undisputed leader of the Enlightenment, used humor and wit as two of his primary weapons, and, as Robert Ingersoll remarked, "In the presence of absurdity he laughed." It was largely by making the divine right of kings a laughing stock that the Enlightenment writers destroyed it. It is time for us to do the same thing to the divine right of the majority.

This year, vote laughing or stay home.

On Supporting the Troops
by Larken Rose

Amongst all the discussions about this war and that war, this policy and that policy, this military issue and that military issue, it seems that almost everyone feels obligated to constantly throw in, "But of course we should all support the troops."

I don't.  And here's why...
