                              December 06, 2007

As 2007 comes to a close, we thought it would be a good idea to re-emphasize some of the main principles which the Populist Party stands for  - and those which we'll continue advocating for in 2008.

Below, you'll find ten articles that we posted in the past year which cover issues that are essential to the future of liberty in America.  Although the opinions in each article are solely that of the individual authors, you'll be sure to find a great deal of what the Populist Party stands for too.  You can learn even more by reading our Ten Planks

Please read and share with your friends and family, and if you support the work of the Populist Party, consider making a donation to help us have a strong finish to 2007.

Thanks for all your support!

"The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence."

Principles of Liberty FEATURED

We Must Return to Our Constitution

We look at this simple call - a government that actually follows the rules that governs it - to be the starting point for the future of liberty in this country.

Love it or hate it, we recognize that if the federal government would just follow the Constitution, we wouldn't have much of the bad policy we see today - from ruinous wars, suspending habeas corpus, warrantless wiretapping, the drug war, and more.

Top-Ten Reasons to Get out of Iraq. Now!

Not next spring, not after the next election, and not next month.  Today, not tomorrow.  Now.

Criminal Conspiracy and the Laws of War

Make no mistake about it, the Iraq war is not just a Bush crime, and it's not just a Republican party crime.  Everyone in Congress who voted to "authorize" Bush to decide whether or not to invade Iraq did so in direct violation to the Constitution as well.

No Pork, No Side Issues and No Riders!

DownsizeDC.org's "Read the Bills Act" will almost singlehandedly clean up the cesspool which D.C. politics has become.  Learn about the bill and take action on it today!

Slavery Revisted: The Military Draft

Do you own your own body - or does the state?  Whatever name the politicians give it - forced labor under the threat of prison or even death is nothing less than slavery.

Freedom from the Income Tax

No flat tax, no "fair" tax, no replacement tax of any kind. Every dollar you earn will be yours - to spend, to save, to give away as you see fit - not as the politicians think best for you, for the nation, or for themselves.

You are Destroying America. Yes, You.

These are the whining tantrum-throwers who live in such a fear-choked world that they will trade in America's Constitution and Bill of Rights for far less than thirty pieces of silver.

The Evils of Lesser-Evil Voting

Voting for the "lesser of two evils" gets us more...you've got it...evil!  A clarion call for each and every person to vote on principle - or not at all.

The Church of Bureaucracy

The US Federal Government keeps growing, and growing...and growing.  It's gotten so big that the bureaucracy has become our biggest church of worship.  The greatest threat to our liberty is not just left or right.  Instead, it's this continual growth of centralized power that keeps happening no matter which side of the aisle is in charge.

Local Democracy for Christmas

What we Americans are experiencing is a distant democracy. What we have is an unresponsive democracy. What we have is an unaccountable democracy. What we have is an overpowering democracy. What we have is a centralized democracy. If we really want democracy, then what we should have is a local democracy, a democracy that is responsive, accountable, and kept under control by local citizens. We should have many, many local democracies.
