Mr Twain could not have put it better, as this statement definitely rings true today. Right on the heels of passing the national ID in the REAL ID Act, Congress is attacking our liberty on multiple fronts with a litany of despotic legislation; most notably with the PATRIOT Act.
For years, we have heard the stories about how many in Congress voted for this police-state law only because they weren't able to read it (which in itself should be considered treasonous negligence), and now after having over three years to review the bill, even many of those who had been opposed to it, have stepped in line, and the bill is now expected to easily pass the house - as a permanent law.

Although the PATRIOT is the best-known, it is not lacking company at all. Multiple bills have been proposed that would destroy the cogency of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We must also keep informed of this endless litany of legislation coming from the hill.
