From the Tenth Amendment Center
The Constitution, contrary to what many people believe, does not give people rights to free speech, trial by jury, to be armed, or even habeas corpus. In fact, the Constitution does not give people any rights, whatsoever!
Instead of giving us rights, the Constitution simply acknowledges that our rights are natural and inherent, and seeks to prevent that enemy of the ages which has always sought to take away our rights: The Government.
Simply put, the Constitution is a limit on government power. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The founders knew what was so obvious from history, and what remains true today - that the greatest threats to our liberty always comes from our own government.
As the 10th Amendment states so clearly, if the Constitution doesn't give a power to the federal government, it can't do it. Period.

West Coast Populist Party
coordinated by Helen Schmidt.
ETA March-April, 2007.
In the coming months, we expect to launch the new West Coast Affiliate of the Populist Party of America!
The hope is to develop much of what's being done with the national Populist Party website - good articles and commentary, but with a regional focus. As numbers grow in this new regional party, we'll move forward with the creation of individual state parties, and further grassroots development.
So, if you're in California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, or Alaska, send an email to Helen Schmidt to let her know you'd like to get involved! She'll be sure to contact you once things are moving forward:

Get Involved Today!
We're still some time away from making the Populist Party the living, breathing, active grassroots organization that we know it will be - but - getting closer and closer every day.
Each day we have people contacting us asking how to get involved. Although we're not at the point of local organizing, there are still a number of things that you can do to help the Populist Party continue to grow. Here's some ideas:
Join the Populist Party
Strength in numbers is the key. This is primarily a symbolic membership, as there are no fees required to join. But, as membership numbers grow, people start to pay more attention to our drive for liberty. Joining is your way of saying "Yes, we need to make a change in how America is governed!" So make a statement in support of liberty, and join the Populist Party!
Contribute
We're not going to be shy about asking for money. Any amount you can donate will help keep the Populist Party growing and all our affiliated websites active. (plus, it'll help us get new projects off the ground)
