 Let's You and Him Fight

February 26, 2007

Somewhere, a banker smiles.

"Divide and Conquer" has become so simple, so effective it's obscene.  The vanishing middle class, sensing danger but unable to identify the source or solution grasps at whatever the Mainstream Media (MSM) deems an appropriate target.  Illegal immigrants have been the most visible targets for a few years.  They come here to access our splendid social service, health care and public education.  Yes, we're supposed to believe that.  I have worked with homeless individuals; immigrants avoid contact with any person or organization they perceive as "authority", for fear of being deported. ( I personally brought a homeless illegal immigrant to a county hospital; he'd been hit by a car and had a broken leg.  He received five minutes of attention and an Ace bandage.)

Notice how "drug smugglers" coming across the Mexican border is becoming the new justification for harsh treatment of immigrants, as well as the neccesity for average Americans to prove their innocence to anyone who demands to "see their papers".  If that doesn't work, I predict charges of pedophilia will be next.  It worked at Waco, it's the reason we can't expect privacy on the internet, etc.  Sort of a catch-all.

Instead of criticizing NAFTA, the loss of any corporate sense of loyalty or decency, outsourcing, we establish posses to stop these evil people from competing for the crumbs that are left of our economy.  And the Parasite Elite (PE) smile, safe in the knowledge that we still haven't identified them.  I think we must amuse them.  These are not inherently clever or superior people, the PE.  (Although their minions may be.)  Inheriting wealth that's been passed down from previous generations isn't remarkable, doesn't require that one develop any particular attributes, skills or even intelligence.  If your only purpose in life is to hang onto your wealth, watching the rest of us live lives must amuse the hell out of their empty heads.

(Article Continues Below)

There was an election in November.  Conspicuous by its absence is a change in the policies of the current administration, proving once and for all how silly we've been to believe in abstract concepts like "democracy, representation", and especially the validity of voting.  Democracy = Elections?  Oh, please.  The people apparently expressed their displeasure with the War on Iraq.  So?  Twenty one thousand more troops will be sent, and now we can argue among ourselves about the wisdom of that decision.  We should be chasing down the sociopath decision-makers in the street and lynching them.  But we don't have that discussion.  Works out well for them.

Of course none of this is new.  Wars have always been fought by citizens who defend the Parasite Elite's greed.  The PE have labeled it "patriotism" and "duty to country", but it's about enriching the already rich.  We kill Iraqi men, women and children; people who haven't done a damn thing to us...to fight the "Global War on Terror"?  Who decided they were the enemy?  Who told us they were dangerous. Who justified this war?  The same people who are benefitting from it.  Hint--they are not the ones fighting and dying.

As a nation, we've been having this circuitous, totally crazy-making conversation about whether Bush lied to Congress and the American people; whether he misled us into war.  I was not misled.  I was lied to!  Congress didn't know there were no WMD's?  How can that be?  I knew!  How could they have been so clueless?  How did I know?  I read Australian, Canadian, French, German, Russian newspapers online.  Check the news archives for March, 2003.  Only U.S. papers presented the whole WMD thing as remotely plausible.  The argument shouldn't be among those of us who sided with Bush vs. those who didn't. It's a waste of energy and pointless.  We were lied to, they got the war they wanted, and until we identify the real enemy and join forces against them there is no hope.

We're poised to drop a nuclear bomb on Iran.  We're Poised to Drop a Nuclear Bomb on Iran!  They are the new enemy, we're told.  They are building nuclear capabilities, which is only Israel's perogative in the Middle East.  Not too long ago the news from Iran was that the younger generation admired America.  Democracy--in the old sense of the word, not it's current Open Market definition--was on the horizon.  It doesn't matter whether we would choose to bomb these people, the drumbeat of war is leading us down that path.  Are they a threat to us?  Is there a discussion we should be having about this part of the world?
