In September 2008, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) published a paper from the Pakistan Policy Working Group (PPWG), an "independent, bipartisan group of American experts on U.S.Pakistan relations." The group is co-chaired by former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage (under George "Size 10" Bush), and Lee H. Hamilton, former Representative and co-chair of the controversial 9/11 Commission Report of 2004.
In addition to co-signing the warmongering Project for the New American Century (PNAC, see p11-12/90) whitepaper, Armitage (photo) was also made infamous by a 2006 "60 Minutes" interview with Pakistan's dictator Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf stated that in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, Armitage bluntly threatened Pakistan if they did not cooperate with the assault on the Taleban by saying, "Be prepared to be bombed. Be prepared to go back to the Stone Age."
From 2006 until present-day, Armitage has been rewarded for his services to the corporatocracy of America with a Directorship at oil giant Conoco Phillips. Not exactly an aloof, "independent" leader, right?
(Obama quote. Note how he mislabels insurgents as "terrorists.")
The most alarming passage (from page 13/56) of the report is the following:
"Recent reporting indicates that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) elements are engaged with groups that support the Taliban and are killing American, NATO, and Afghan troops in Afghanistan. The government of Afghanistan has accused ISI-supported elements of orchestrating an assassination attempt against Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Well-sourced media reports also suggest that the ISI had a role in the July 7 car-bombing of the Indian Embassy in Kabul that killed two senior Indian officials and more than 50 Afghan civilians. All of this suggests that the ISI is no longer certain the Coalition forces will prevail in Afghanistan and that it is using militant groups in an attempt to expand its own influence."
The ISI is more or less the Pakistani spy version of the CIA, and act as they deem necessary to protect the national security of Pakistan, notably from India. The rest of the report is more or less yuppie-dreamer-type material, such as increasing aid beyond the $11 billion already given "overtly." [Read: We've given far more under the table, and this "aid" is most likely just a future shackle of debt, which is the American Empire's standard method of operations.]
What concerns me is that this "reporting" may actually be just a rumor intended to move the future Obama administration to a more warlike footing. I note that the PPWG does not back its flagrant claim with hard evidence. As outlined here "Utter Chaos in Afghanistan and Pakistan as Barack Obama Sanctions Preemptive War", Obama already supports preemptive war against the state of Pakistan.
I will not bemoan in detail here again how clueless bungling has brought America to the point of a simmering de facto war with Pakistan already. Nor the fact that Pakistan has air-, land-, and submarine-borne nuclear weapons - enough to turn much of the world into cinders. In fact, if you read my past articles, you will find that I was among the very first to cry foul at the very start of this war in September here "WAR! America Attacks Pakistan".
With ongoing insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a foe in Iran due to our senseless foreign policy, one can imagine a future day (may it never come to pass!) when American tanks surge over the Indian and Afghan borders in a pincer movement on Islamabad.
And mark my words, due to his tribal attributes if nothing else, Karzai, the Mayor of Kabul, will be lucky to escape with his life in the coming maelstrom. In regards to Afghanistan, any military strategist, armchair or otherwise, worth their salt that has studied Afghan military history and The Art of War would concede the Afghanistan is hopelessly lost due to a vast multitude of grievous tactical errors against Taleban forces during the 2001 assault.
Face it. Our troops are in trouble, and they need to retreat from foreign borders before their lives are senselessly lost as our irresponsible leaders, King George II and his heir apparent, King Obama are blindly bent towards a globe dominated by the American Empire.
With our economy in tatters, I challenge the sheer imperial arrogance of these stupid men to carelessly discard the lives of our warriors in such a disdainful manner. In our modern times, I ask: who REALLY deserves to be tarred and feathered? (photo)
Oh, I almost forgot! For the gazillionth time, all these wars are unconstitutional per Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution of the United States of America as Congress has not declared war since Pearl Harbor.
