Politicians and many in the media are experts at hyperbole and, they are the epitome of hypocrisy. Politicians exaggerate their experience and, they exaggerate what they will do if they are elected to serve in government. Many media outlets exaggerate the facts on political stories for ratings, to earn maximum profits and to foster support for a political party. Fair and Balanced? Where?
Many politicians profess beliefs, or virtues that they don't hold or posses. When politicians blame their opponents for failing to solve problems while failing to solve the same problems, they show us why they are the epitome of hypocrisy. The energy
crisis is just one example of decades of blaming the opposition while nothing has been done to even begin to address the energy crisis.
Politicians attack the opposition often by claiming their opponent is worse on moral values. "He's worse than me," "He did it too." Yes, they bicker just like little children. Children can at least play together after bickering over who got the biggest piece of pie.
Many of these highly educated men and women serving in our government are bickering like children while our nation faces an economic crisis. Too bad we can't take away their privileges and punish them for failing to act like adults and do the peoples business.
Wait, we can take away their privileges and punish them by voting them out of office. It is time to send many of the children in the Congress home for bad behavior and incompetence.
The American people deserve better from their elected officials. It is time for a serious debate by both major political parties on the issues of our time. The American people need to speak out on the issues affecting the future of their children and, they need to send a clear message to the men and women serving in government.
While many politicians in government and their advocates prefer hyperbole and hypocrisy over critical thinking and real debate on the peoples business, our Nation is at risk.
While members of both parties and their highly paid surrogates cling to personal attacks as a distraction, the middle class continues to lose jobs and buying power - not to mention their homes.

While politicians and their highly paid advocates use fear and unfounded accusations against their opponents, the American middle class and working poor pay a heavy price with the resulting mediocre government. Can we ever forget the response to Hurricane Katrina?
If we could outsource the U. S. Congress to a foreign country to save on the cost of government wages, members of Congress might get the message. Tax breaks for corporations should only apply if U.S. Corporations create jobs here in America and stay in America.
Many members of Congress need to get a back x-ray to show proof of a spine. Our Nation has had many men and women show great courage and risk their lives while standing up for the people. It is time once again for profiles in courage by the members of Congress. It will take courage to end this war of choice in Iraq, restore Habeas Corpus and the rule of law.
It is time a bipartisan commitment by our elected officials to work together to solve the problems facing our Nation. Our power grids, bridges, roads and schools are in serious need of repair. We should put our citizens to work rebuilding America.
We need the majority in the Congress to once again stand up for the U.S. Constitution, civil liberties and all the people not just corporations and special interest groups.
It is clear that only the people can bring about the needed changes in the direction of their government. The American working men and women made this nation great. It will take the working men, working women and more leaders with integrity and courage to correct the course of our nation.
Many politicians won't listen to the voices of the people until they fear losing an election. Contact your Congressional Representative and your Senators to express your concerns and remember to vote! Your vote counts!
