Four Steps to Restore America

I believe that the Democratic Party will solidify their control in the 2008 election. Hopefully the Democrats will realize that we citizens are giving them a chance to fix the problems fostered on us by this past eight years of Bush and Buddies. Elected Republican Leaders have enabled that bunch to ignore our Constitution - resulting in us having far fewer rights than we did when this administration took office. I am not convinced that the Republican Rank and File agree with this immoral behavior.

This past eight years has been unduly corrupt and wasteful, running up staggering debt, abandoning our moral foundation, and eliminating Constitutionally guaranteed rights in the name of "protecting us". The 2006 majority given to the Democrats was to create change.

That didn't happen.

Our American Government needs a thorough cleansing. I mean a scrubbing from top to bottom.

Once cleansed, our Government needs to become what was once the Ideal - a Government that is by and for the people. The Democratic Party stands on the threshold of assuming power in 2008 but only because of the ruinous Bush years, not because of anything good that they have done.

But they will have the opportunity to return this country to its former Greatness. And if they do this, we need to reward them with our votes as long as they keep Fidelity and Morality with we the people and the rule of Law - our Constitution. If they fail us again, we need to adopt the old saw "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". If they, the Democrats fail us this time, we need to cast them to the dustbin of history.

These are some first changes that absolutely must be accomplished:

Immediately end the Iraqi war. Set a date for withdrawal of all troops. Promise reparations to the Iraqi people. Declare the War on Terror won, and end it, Immediately.
Suspend the domestic Bush Doctrine. Immediately suspend all Bush Policies, Mark-up's, Directives, and enactment of all Surveillance Acts etc. and while those are suspended, review each edit and end any that are not constitutional immediately. Continue the review until all the rest are either re-instated or changed, or killed.
Investigate war crimes and profiteering. Immediately convene a group to begin investigation into any war crimes or profiteering that has been ongoing. Bring charges where guild is found allowing no pass to any elected official.
Return this country to Constitutional law. This process will also return our Country to Financial Solvency, address the problem of illegal immigration, Address the problem of Medical Access for all, The cost of education, Election Reform, Earmarks, Lobbying, the Tax Structure and Policies, and these are just the starting areas.

The Democrats will have their chance. And they can bring more of the same or actually bring the changes so desired by the people of this great Country. But we need to make emphatic the point that this is their only chance. How can we do that? By refusing to give the Republicans another chance as long as the Democrats are listening to the will of the people.

This might be a mistake, witness what happened when we gave one Party the Chance - the Republicans. Never in my Adult life have I witnessed such wanton disregard for the American values that made America great as I have seen during these last seven years of the Republican Administration.

To assure a new avenue if the Democrats don't heed the warning, we the people, need to vigorously become active in forming a viable third party. We will have four years to bring it to parity. And we need to force several reforms to our electoral system.

Both the Democratic and Republican Parties will be fighting this, but we must ignore their promises. It will be much easier for them to keep their promises if they know for sure that their replacement is waiting in the wings.
