Sadly but unsurprisingly, the House approved another $70 Billion this week to fund the wars.
So, while a majority of the public wants an end to war, the wealth of the American people is being forcibly transferred to the government and their corporate partners; the merchants of death. Just considering this one point, the war in Iraq is just as immoral and illegal as stealing from one person to give to another.
In a truly free society, you would be able to choose where your money was spent. You would never have to fear that you would be forced to pay for wars, a military empire, or anything of the like. In a free society, you will keep every dollar you earn. You'll be able to spend it, save it, or give it away as you think best; not as the politicians decide.
This is what the great Austrian economist, Ludwig von Mises, referred to as an "Economic Democracy," or more rightly, a "Consumer's Democracy." Because your money is never forcibly taken from you - every time you spend it, you are, in essence, voting with your dollars - and those companies or organizations who get the most "votes" will be more likely to succeed.
This is the kind of society that the Populist Party believes in - a society where you are free, and the politicians and their corporate backers are virtually powerless to run your life and spend your money.

To help with our advocacy online, we've just launched a new version of the PopulistAmerica.com website. If you've been following us over the past few years, this is now version 4.0, and we've added some much-requested features. Some of the highlights:
- The Populist Party blog - which will compliment our Daily Commentary section and feature shorter, more "freewheeling" commentary, discussions and the like. You can submit your own blog posts too!
- Action Center - We've had some great success with over 7500 people signing petitions in the last few months. Now you'll be able to find all current action alerts in one easy place - and submit a recommendation for one as well!
- Cleaner design - less clutter and more focus on the articles you're wanting to read.
- All New Home Page - with recommended video clips, featured posts, most read articles, stats, and more.
- More Ways to Donate - including monthly auto-payments, and Amazon's honor system.
- Even more coming soon - such as a new online bookstore, RSS feeds for each columnist, and a volunteer center where you can take action to spread the word of liberty on your own.
And best-yet, advertisements have been reduced by nearly 1/3. We still have a number in place, as they help with funding, but as your donations have come in we've been able to cut back significantly - and we hope that in the future we'll be able to eliminate these completely.
Although we're excited about the new website - the message is what's most important - as we're able to upgrade and improve the site it serves as a better and better tool for education and advocacy.

Through your ongoing readership and financial support, we've been able to grow the Populist Party into something that is showing long-term viability. We've already built 2 regional affiliates - in the Midwest and on the West Coast - and, as demand continues to increase, we'll launch more affiliate parties in regions, states and cities around the country. You can help us achieve this - and help us bring the message of liberty to a much larger audience in the years to come.
In the few short years since the Populist Party was formed, we've seen some strong growth and buzz. The website now gets 250-300,000 visitors every month - up from just 40,000 in July of '06 and 9,000 in July of '05! We've still got a long way to go, and we have no delusions about making an impact in the 2008 elections, but these numbers tell us that the message is catching on!
