Voice your Opinion

The 2008 election campaign is in full swing - caucuses, primaries, debates and polls.  Many of you have written to ask if the Populist Party is backing a candidate.  The answer is no, but we'd like to invite you to tell us who you support - or maybe you don't support any of them.

The reason we're not backing a candidate is quite simple.  As a political party, we can only endorse a candidate whom our members have selected - and the process for that would be a party convention.  Since we've yet to have a nominating convention, we are unable to formally endorse a candidate.

But - each writer, editor, volunteer - and you - has an opinion on this election, and we'd like you to tell us about it.  Write some words of support for your candidate of choice, and submit it for publication on the Blog.

It's easy to tell us who you're supporting in 2008.  Just click the link below:

A number of our columnists have written articles in support of one candidate or another - or in support of not voting at all.  But what's most important is your opinion - you, our members and newsletter subscribers, and we want to hear what you have to say.

Write one sentence or a 500-word article, it doesn't matter.  We'll be tallying them up and will publish a proportionate number of entries on our blog for everyone to read and discuss.  I took the liberty of writing the first blog post in support of Ron Paul, and you can see that example here:

John Quincy Adams had some great advice on voting:

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."

The Ten Planks of the Populist Party calls for strict adherence to the Bill of Rights, anti-militarism, transparency in government, accountability for politicians and more.  Who do you feel will best advance these principles in office?

Let us know today, click the link below to voice your support for a candidate (or even none at all):

No matter who you support, like Adams said, be confident that your vote will never be lost.
